It is not safe to drive a car that has an overheating engine. At ALAN JAY CADILLAC, we want you to know the more common reasons that engines overheat. That way, you have a better idea of what you are dealing with.

As you know, engines get incredibly hot as you cruise around in Sebring and beyond. A cooling system is used to prevent the engine from heating up to the point that it will warp or crack. Your vehicle has a thermostat that keeps track of the temperature and allows coolant into the engine when it is needed.

Sometimes, an overheating engine is caused by low coolant levels. This is a relatively easy fix, although you will want to find out if you have a leak in the cooling system. A seized water pump may also be the issue, or your radiator may not be keeping the coolant at the proper level. Sometimes, the hoses responsible for moving the coolant become damaged.
