Many of the models at Alan Jay Cadillac are equipped with auto-dimming rearview mirrors that reduce glare at night and help you focus on the road ahead.
During the day, an auto-dimming rearview mirror functions just like a regular mirror would. At night, its sensors and electrochromic gel work on your behalf. When the sensors detect the presence of bright lights, they send an electric signal to the electrochromic gel, which has been sandwiched in between the mirror's two layers of glass. The gel reacts to that electric signal, and the reaction causes the gel to change color.
As a result, the mirror appears to be darker. Light has a harder time passing through the gel, and you'll have an easier time seeing.
